The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced its first 3 Stars of the Week for the 2024-25 season earlier this week. Forwards Jordan Mayo (Iroquois Falls Storm) and Wyatt Gibson (Blind River Beavers), along with defenceman Bryan Fenlon (Soo Thunderbirds), earned the honours.

1st Star – Jordan Mayo (F), Iroquois Falls Storm

Making a stunning NOJHL debut, the 16-year-old from Kingston, ON., racked up four points in Saturday’s win over Kirkland Lake. Mayo recorded a natural hat trick in the second period, netting three power-play goals within just four minutes and 39 seconds. His third goal stood as the game-winner, and he added an assist later in the game.

2nd Star – Wyatt Gibson (F), Blind River Beavers

Gibson, a 20-year-old from Pelham, ON., played a pivotal role in the Beavers’ back-to-back victories last weekend. On Saturday, he scored once and assisted on the game-winner, before notching two goals on Sunday, including the game-winning tally against Elliot Lake.

3rd Star – Bryan Fenlon (D), Soo Thunderbirds

Welcome home, Bryan Fenlon! The 20-year-old defenceman from Sault Ste. Marie, ON., was key in both ends of the rink as the Thunderbirds went 1-0-1 to open the season. He contributed four assists over two games, registering two helpers in each outing. Fenlon returns to his hometown squad after spending last season with the Fredericton Red Wings (MHL) and Gatineau Flames (QJAAAHL).
