Exceptional players seem to have this ability to swing the momentum of games in their favor,

Zach Sanford definitely tried to do so Monday night versus the Colorado Avalanche. This was the first game back since the Covid Protocol took place on November 14th after a 4-0 loss in Calgary, when visiting the Flames.

“Coming off a week off of games and playing a team like that who’s fast and physical is a challenge,” Sanford said. “We had our legs, we had that intensity, we kept coming back, kept tying the game.”

Defensemen Chabot said “First game back after five, six days off, whatever it was and playing one of the best teams in the League and you find a way to always come back and tie it up and take a lead. That one hurt.”

Just :50 seconds in to the first period Valeri Nichushkin, with a incredible wrist shot rips it past Gustavsson for the first of the night making it a 1-0 game for Colorado.

Zach Sanford did his best to find that off at 12:53 in the first period with a tip in from Lassi Thomson, and Micheal Del Zotto.

Then in under a minute Cale Makar responds with a wrist shot on net, making it 2-1 Colorado.

In the dying seconds of the first period Artem Zub releases a snapshot off of a Brady Tkachuk Pass, for his first of the year, tying up the game.

Second period was quiet up until 13:44 when Devon Toews decided to tip in a shot from Nazem Kadri (16th Assist of the year for Kadri), and the Avalanche lead 3-2.

With under 5 to go in the second Zach Sanford releases another beauty of a wrist shot, tying up the game for the second time tonight.

Heading into the third Josh Norris decides that he’s had enough of playing from behind and with a PPG he puts Ottawa in the lead.

Cale Makar responds quickly though at 02:45 into the second period blasting another wrist shot.

Zach Sanford decides that a Hat Trick would be a nice thing to have, putting up his third one of the night on a wrist shot from Brady Tkachuk and Logan Shaw.

The next four minutes Mikko Rantanen shoots a wrist shot on the power play and makes it 5-5.

The dying minutes of the game Alex Newhook blasts a wrist shot off a pass from Logan O’Connor, Valeri Nichushkin, putting them back into the lead.

Nazem Kadri finishes off the game with an empty net putting the Avalanche at 7 Goals.

Final results 7-5 Avalanche.
